Been working on Galaxy Nexus kernels almost exclusively for a while. It's not the easiest kernel to work on. The omap4 architecture seems to be very picky about every little change, so I could make a seemingly harmless small mod and BAM the battery drains 2x as fast.
Anyway, I have a Rootzwiki thread, which sees a lot of traffic and I can't usually keep up with the discussions there. I thought maybe I can use my blogger.com page (which I haven't used in a while) to collect some feature requests from users. So what about it? If you'd love to see a feature please post it here. Keep in mind that I'd probably end up getting to less than 10% of the requests, as this is a "minimalistic" kernel and all. :) Please try to post feature requests only, all other discussions should go back to the Rootzwiki thread.
I like the minimalistic kernel that favors stability and performance over bloated features :)
ReplyDeleteTcp Veno. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI agree with RL. Keep it lean.
ReplyDeleteim on your 3.2.2exp5 kernel and it is very good
ReplyDeleteespecially when playing intensive games, there is hardly any lag
ive tried popcorn, hybrid tuna, franco, and yours is the best that ive tried
great work
This comes from an issue posted in the thread by another user a few days ago...
ReplyDeleteWhen using USB to go, the system doesn't seem to support ntfs. It will mount the drive but it won't show any files.

Possibly implementing my fast charging features once I get them to my liking. (I'm using your kernel as a base for my changes). I have a thread going on rootzwiki, if your interested.
ReplyDeleteic3man5, if you've forked my repo, send me a pull request with your changes? I will review it. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI didn't fork it, I guess I'll do that soon unless you want to wait until I completely finish it. I probably broke a lot of things with it like wireless charging. I haven't had a lot of time to work with it yet... I basically just managed to prove out it works.
DeleteFinally got around to forking (link: https://github.com/ic3man5/leanKernel-tbolt-gingerbread).
DeleteI'm going to be adding more as being stuck "super charging" isn't ideal at all times.

ReplyDeleteLove your kernel...flashing through the Franco updater app.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to be able to choose the CPU slots that can be used, for example I'm using the 230exp version and would like to disable the 35mhz slot as CPU spy reports that it is barely used....that sort of thing.
Can u fix the wifi battery drain, add ajustable regulator voltage, add bus overclocking and ajustable core/iva voltage please ?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your hard work... I use your kernel because it seems to be the better on battery life. Anything that would make the battery last longer works for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't change clock speeds, or try anything fancy, I just want more battery life.
any change you can possibly upp the overclocking to 1.72ghz?
ReplyDeleteI'm having a great time with the current stable release on my GN, any chance the N7 might get the same love?
ReplyDeletePlease & Thank you.
About to try it now on maddoggin rom thru franco updator:)

Love the kernel! The best!
ReplyDeleteWhere to put bug reports? Here? Ok.
I just flashed lk_gnex_jb42_v6.3exp1-230 in my gnex running the latest cm nightly using set cpu to tweak it using interactivex and deadline capped at 900. It won't go down below 900 for some reason.
I went back to the last version and all is well again.
Just thought you'd like to know... :)
Again, thanks for the great work!
Wow! Quick fix! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! PGM is not working on lk_gnex_jb43_v8.1exp1-230.zip.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
Another quick fix! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Lk is derping on the Gnex with the CM nightlies starting yesterday. Repeating force close of com.phone.android. Here's a link to the discussion on G+.

You never now how much you miss lean kernel till you can't use it!
Hi, last time I checked (28 october) the 8.3exp1-180 version has 230 as minimal CPU clock frequency. Last update in exp folder on the server was on 26 october so I guess it hasn't been fixed yet. Great kernel by the way.
ReplyDeleteHeads up! Lk causing a boot loop on Dec 14 cm11 nightly for Grouper!
